Trifecta Ireland is an independent, non-profit initiative working to accelerate Ireland’s transition to a clean, secure, and affordable energy future.
Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic intern to join Trifecta Ireland, a division of Trifecta Energy. The successful candidate will be employed by Trifecta Energy and based within the Trifecta Ireland team, with the opportunity to collaborate across the wider organisation, including our European division SupergridEurope, when required.
This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or current student who is enthusiastic about the energy transformation and eager to gain firsthand experience in a start-up environment across communications, funding, and stakeholder engagement.
This position is based in Dublin 2 and a full-time five-day working week. The successful candidate will be required to attend the office three to four days each week, with one day designated for remote work. Trifecta Ireland offers periodic flexible working arrangements.
The role is available as a fixed-term summer contract. The intern will focus primarily on supporting funding applications, managed directly by the Communications & Events Officer and working with Trifecta Energy founder Lesley O’Connor. The role may also include duties such as providing project support, engaging with stakeholders, and conducting research and advocacy related to decarbonising energy systems in Ireland.
Main Responsibilities
- Funding Applications: Research and identify relevant funding opportunities. Assist in drafting and reviewing funding applications and grant proposals. Help compile supporting documentation and track application deadlines and outcomes.
- Administrative & Communications Support: Help with day-to-day administrative tasks including scheduling, correspondence, databases, and occasional communications support such as social media and newsletters.
- Policy, Advocacy & Events: Assist with advocacy campaigns and contribute to policy submissions supporting clean renewable energy, electrotech and innovation in Ireland. Participate in the organisation and delivery of events, workshops, and other activities.
Skills & Qualifications
• Strong interest in renewable energy, sustainability, and climate action.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; experience in content creation, grant writing, or funding research is a plus.
• Organised, self-driven, and comfortable working in a fast-paced start-up environment.
• Collaborative, adaptable, and able to engage respectfully with diverse stakeholders.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and social media platforms.
• A background in Sustainability, Public Policy, Communications, or a related field is welcome but not required. We encourage applications from those currently in university or at an early stage of their career.
